I would not recommend using it for anything else just because it could potentially ruin the sharp edge. The edges are nice and sharp and actually cut the plastic instead of snapping plastic.

The blades are made from quality chrome vanadic alloy and are hand finished for optimum sharpness. And they are razor sharp. I recommend them over the xuron 2175 shears for fine work as i use the xuron shears first to remove the part from the spur and then use the tamiya cutters to remove the gate from the part leaving very little to be sanded. 11 tamiya tam74123.

These are directly comparable to the cut on the mr hobby. It is actually cutting the plastic instead of tearing it apartment like most cutters i used before. Reviewed in the united states on january 9 2018 i upgraded to this tamiya nipper from a pair of xurons i ve been using since the fall of the roman empire and this tool is a huge improvement in my opinion. I have used several cutters and none of them is even a close match to this one.
