Tear Up Old Carpet

Before you start ripping up the carpet clear all furniture from the room.

Remember to cut the carpet into smaller pieces as you go to make it easier to move and dispose of. Drive long wood screws into the sub floor and through to floor joists anywhere the floor squeaks. Fold the carpet over for easy cutting and slice it into narrow strips. Pull up a few feet of carpet and fold it over. Cut carpet into easy to handle. Remove the carpet tacking strips which may be nailed or stapled to the hardwood floor.
